AUSTRALIA DAY CULTURAL AWARD for ESK COMMUNITY CHOIR

Alexis FitzGerald receiving the Australia Day Cultural Award
From Mayor Cr Graeme Lehmann

On January, 26th at the Somerset Civic Centre  where the Australia Day Awards 2014 for the Somerset Region were held, Alexis FitzGerald was proud and honoured to accept the rewards and accolades on behalf of her Choir when, amongst other worthy nominees,  the ESK COMMUNITY CHOIR was named  the winner of the AUSTRALIA DAY CULTURAL AWARD.  This is adjudged in recognition of the Choir's contributions made to the local community and for the exceptional results achieved throughout their cultural endeavours..."Blimey, this lot started before I was born!!!!” from the emcee who, from all accounts, kept the large and supportive audience informed as well as highly entertained.
The list of the choir's achievements in 2013, while too numerous to mention here but evidenced by the entries to this blog, are a barometer of the gifts of music that this Choir has given over a tremendously rewarding 12 months.  The Esk Choir has been catalytic in providing music and culture to a Community for not just this past year but all of its 36 years and the value of the fellowship and fun, to countless members who have discovered its therapeutic benefits, is priceless.

This award is surely impetus for this Choir
to reach for the heights of what is already shaping up to be another spectacular year in the life of the Esk Community Choir...
