MUSIC AND CHARMING ELEGANCE AT ‘THE GRAND’ IN ESK FOR THE RUNNING OF THE CUP

It was a smashing, positively dashing spectacle at Esk’s Grand Hotel on 5^th November, that special day when a nation stops for the running of the Melbourne Cup. And though Melbourne was awash with sparkling sunshine, colour, and glamour, it was no less evident at The Grand in Esk when members of the Esk Community Choir joined with a bumper crop of guests happy to be there, a wonderful excuse to lunch and converse on a day when pageantry meets sport.

The buzz of laughter and chatter only stopped when the black and white themed glamour of Choir members took their places for the sparkling entre of a far from restrained medley from My Fair Lady, setting the scene for the much-awaited running of the Melbourne Cup.

A colourful lineup of ladies and gentlemen sashayed and strutted for the judging of the ‘fashions on the field’.  Hotly contested, it was two of the choir’s own, Nola and Eric who so deservedly earned the judge’s praises.

By 2.05pm another race won…and lost…What a splendid moment it was!  Simply a thrilling, absolutely chilling running of the 2024 Melbourne Cup!!
