ANCA 'Big Sing' 2014

Oh! What A Wonderful Time We Had The Day We Went To...Kingaroy!

ANCA 2014 was hosted this year by the very friendly, welcoming and well prepared South Burnett Chorale in the beautiful country town of Kingaroy.  Not only did we enjoy the challenging music conducted by the energetic and charismatic Peter Ingram

Food, glorious food!!
but the Burnett hosts made sure that we were so well fed that the event became known as 'The Big Eat'.

Margaret Philp & Ellise Pope
Marina Crichton, Lloyd King, Kathie Watts, Tom Byrne

This was more than a singing weekend, it was the fellowship of catching up with old friends and meeting new ones; sharing the challenges of sight reading the new music and learning to move with some rhythm; adding a clap in the middle of a 5/4 bar; celebrating life.

Jan Pritchard and Judy Lawrence

Joann Brown and Carolyn King

The closing concert on Sunday afternoon was dedicated to the late Harley Mead who died suddenly the week prior to the Big Sing. Harley was an internationally recognized composer, conductor and music educator and was highly regarded for his ability to inspire the love of music in those he worked with. At the closing concert the combined choirs sang, as a tribute to Harley, one of his beautiful compositions ' He Will Hold You in the Palm of His Hands'.

Our challenge now is to pass on all that we absorbed (music that is) and share the spirit of the weekend with our colleagues.

A well deserved rest after a fever pitched
weekend of singing.
