Until you've
experienced the feeling of giving the gift of a song; to revive that small
glint of a sparkle in people who've
wanted so long; it's something that's hard to explain, nor is it easy to
understand.
But when people
appear so grateful it's hard to let go of their hand.
That is how
it was when the Esk Community Choir gave their gift of song to a small but so appreciative audience at Glenwood Aged
Care Facility in Lowood on Friday 28th November.
From the
outset the Choir's attention grabbing trio of songs of praise put smiles on the
faces of visitors, staff and residents whose
faces lit up on a par with the coloured winking lights and the
illumination of Christmas decorations adorning the room.

When
Kathleen, Carolyn and Iris gave their mellifluous renditions of cherished
evergreens from Roger's and Hammerstein's "South Pacific", it was
apparent this audience of old souls wanted to become part of the performances
and Bob's flawless execution of "Some Enchanted Evening" appeared to
recapture many fond memories.
The men's
rendition of "Till I Hear You Sing" again was goose-bump gorgeous and
another alluring piece from the pen of Andrew Lloyd Webber, "Whistle Down
the Wind", spoke of the precious friendships that were so much a presence
in the recreation room at Glenwood. A
beautiful duet by Di and Gail, two of the Choir's burgeoning talents and
"A Spoonful of Sugar" delivered in a most delightful way by the
irrepressible Robyn, produced happiness in, well, large spoonfuls!
Following
the last bracket of songs by the Ladies and the full Choir telling of the joys
of Christmas, the hour had come to depart but not before Alexis, on behalf of
Margaret and the Choir, expressed her gratitude to the handful of beautiful
people who came to listen; where the joy could be measured by the warmth of
their hugs, their smiles of appreciation and for us, the Choir, the sharing of
this magical experience.
