ESK COMMUNITY CHOIR HELPS FLY THE FLAG ON ANZAC DAY.

April 25th, 2012 was the 97th time Australians have commemorated Anzac Day.  Though the men and women still here to tell of their stories show faces that have been separated by many years of conflicts in various places around the world, they are also inextricably linked by the history of the ANZACS and the enduring spirit that has held a Nation together on this day since the end of World War 1.
This year in Esk, a much larger  than usual and more enthusiastic crowd gathered at Memorial Park to pay their respects to those men and women who have gained for this Nation the freedoms we enjoy today, and who have  brought us a step closer to tolerance and peace.  In his usual flamboyant style, Mr. Charlie Elwell hosted the Anzac Service, which included two touching poems written by locals, Tom Deans and Margaret Sheppard.  Amongst the gathering, a small group from the Esk Community Choir very capably led the community in song.  Representing the Choir, were Shirley Todd and Joann Brown who laid a wreath in commemoration of those who, for us, have given their lives for the cause and in support of those still fighting the fight.
